Program Description
The Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission ("GCRPC," "we," "us," or "our") operates an SMS-based commuter transit notification program (the "Program") to keep enrolled riders informed of real-time service conditions, schedule changes, and transit-related updates across the regional commuter network.
This Program is provided as a public service to support safe, efficient commuting in the Golden Crescent region. All messages are strictly transit-related — GCRPC does not use this channel for marketing, promotions, or non-transit communications.
No marketing. No spam. Every message sent through this Program relates directly to commuter transit operations and rider safety. We will never use this channel to advertise products or services.
Consent & Enrollment
By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to the GCRPC Transit Alerts Program — through our website, a transit rider portal, a paper enrollment form, or by texting a keyword to our SMS short code — you expressly consent to receive recurring automated text messages from GCRPC at the mobile number you provided.
Consent is not a condition of service. Enrollment in SMS alerts is entirely optional and is not required to access GCRPC transit services.
By enrolling, you represent that you are the authorized account holder of the mobile number provided, or that you have obtained the account holder's permission to enroll that number in the Program.
Types of Transit Alerts
GCRPC may send the following categories of commuter transit notifications:
Delays, detours, cancellations, and unexpected interruptions to scheduled service.
Planned route modifications, holiday schedules, temporary stop closures, and timetable updates.
Notifications when previously disrupted routes have returned to normal operations.
Road closures, weather-related service suspensions, and emergency transit advisories.
Alerts may pertain to specific routes, stops, or corridors you have subscribed to, or may be system-wide notices affecting all commuters in the GCRPC service area.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on real-time transit conditions. During periods of normal operations you may receive few or no messages. During service disruptions, severe weather events, or significant schedule changes, you may receive multiple messages in a short period of time.
GCRPC will only send messages when there is meaningful transit information to communicate. We do not send messages for routine, on-time service.
Time-sensitive alerts: Because transit alerts are often urgent and safety-related, messages may be delivered at any hour, including early morning and late evening, in order to inform riders before and during their commute.
How to Opt-Out

Costs & Carrier Information
GCRPC does not charge a fee for the Transit Alerts Program. However, message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan. GCRPC is not responsible for any carrier charges you may incur for sending or receiving text messages.
The Program is compatible with most major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Boost, Cricket, MetroPCS, and U.S. Cellular. Availability and delivery times may vary by carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy & Data Use
GCRPC is committed to protecting your personal information. Your mobile phone number and enrollment data will be used solely to deliver transit notifications and administer the Program. We will not sell, rent, or share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may share your information with our SMS technology service provider solely as necessary to operate the Program. That provider is contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
